Cabinet SAMMAN is very proud to give its support and to sponsor the European University Institute (EUI) Team for the Simulation of the European Parliament between Canada-Québec and the European Union (SPECQUE) that will be held next August in Sherbrooke (Québec).
The SPECQUE is a francophone simulation organized since almost 20 years alternatively in the EU and in Canada. This year, it will gather around 200 participants from both sides of the Atlantic in Sherbrooke (Québec).
The SPECQUE allows students, researchers and young workers from all over Europe, Canada and beyond to understand concretely European issues and the functioning of the European Parliament. In real conditions, this experience provides the opportunity to develop public-speaking and negotiation skills. The MEPs will discuss four texts which raise awareness among topical and societal European policy issues.
The European University Institute Team (EUI Florence) takes part for the second year to the SPECQUE and is composed of four researchers from the EUI Law Department:
Christy Ann Petit (France) will be rapporteur in the Committee for Women's Rights and Gender Equality working on the proposal on parental leave and work-life balance representing The Greens political group (FEMM Committee).
Margherita Melillo (Italy) will work as an MEP in the S&D group on a common strategy for renewable energies between Russia and the EU (AFET Committee).
Irene OteroFernández (Spain) will dedicate herself to the regulation aiming at creating a European e-health agency, representing the interests of The Greens as an MEP (ENVI Committee).
Galyna Kostiukevych (Ukraine) will be legal secretary in the Economic and Monetary Affairs giving her legal expertise on parallel currencies regulation (ECON Committee).
By this summer, the EUI team has already worked on relevant legal issues and European procedures. The team members followed a training on issues combining health and competition law (ENVI Committee) to regulate e-health services through a new agency. The team will also deal with procedural questions, parental leave proposal, regulation of parallel currencies and the drafting of a renewable energies strategy between Russia and the EU.
Best of luck to the team !
